FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Q:Do You build Your guitars all personally or do You use premanufactured components?
A:Yes, my guitars are all 100% handmade by myself. I only buy the hardware and the pickups.
Q:What Pickups do You use?
A:What ever my cutomers want. I have a faible for vintage DiMarzio´s from the 70s that I use on my private guitars.
Q:What kind of frets do You use?
A:I use "Jumbo 2,6 x 1,1 Neusilberbünde", unless You want something else.
Q:Most of Your guitars have only one Volume and no Tone knob – why?
A:Keep it simple. The focus should be on the play. And the only thing a Tone Potentiometer is doing is switch from great tone to dumb tone.. Who wants that?
Q:Can I watch You building my instrument?
A:Generally: No. But if You want I send mails every day with pics from all the different steps. I also offer workshops where I build an instrument together with You.
Q:Why are there almost never any inlays on Your fretboards?
A:On most mass production guitars the fretboard wood is not very special and the inlay makes it look much nicer. On my instruments I take a big effort to find the best and most beautiful wood for my fretboards and then an inlay would only be covering the beauty of the wood itself.
Q: Is it visible that Your Instruments are handmade?
A: of course You will always see the difference between a piece that is manufactured by hand compared to one that is done by a CNC controlled machine. I think that this part of the character of a unique piece and not, as still a lot of people think, a reduction in Quality. Wood is a unique and naturale material that should always look like and feel like wood. This is what I try to focus on, on my instruments as much as possible.
